Matthew's Story

My old friends remember me pretty much the way it really was. My acquaintances however probably don't remember much about me at all! I made it to our 20 yr., 25 yr. and 30 yr. reunions as well as the 40th birthday get together. It was good to see everyone. I was pretty much a loner in school. I lived on the east edge of the Dayton school district, actually out of city limits in Mad River Township. My friends were from the "plat" and "Park Layne", a couple of sub-divisions. 'Park Layne" was in the Beavercreek school district. So my friends went to Belmont, Carrol, Beavercreek and Stebbins. I hung out with a few people from school but only rarely away from school. My only close friend from Co-op was Larry Jaekle and we still see each other from time to time. I was recently in his wedding(I'll not divulge how many!) We both live in the greater Tampa Bay area. I got married 3 months after graduation to my childhood sweetheart. She was a graduate of Beavercreek.I was into a lot of different things after high school. I drag raced motorcycles from 18-24, played in a band from 21-28, played USVBA volleyball from 28-46, owned a paintball store and played professional paintball from 34-40. I lived in the Dayton area until 2001, then I moved to Fl. to work for my brother. I'm now the Toolroom supervisor for...Expand for more
a pharmacuetical packaging machine manufacturer. I have one son, named Ira. He is married to a lovely young lady named Lisa. They have a daughter, Bailey, Grandpa's pride and joy. I've been fortunate in my life to have met a lot of good people and I married a couple of them! Since they were good people we've remained friends even though we couldn't remain married. I'm happily single now, however I never say never. My current passion is playing music again. I still have my vintage Rogers Holiday 4 pc. drum kit. 1964 red onyx in excellent condition. I also play percussion. I have LP congas, LP bongos and too many hand percussion instruments to name. I play in a band, Zebra Butterfly. We play mostly original music. When I'm not out and about I like to relax by the pool with an ice cold drink. Of course I have to drink it fast or it'll be steaming! I enjoy mountain biking and kyaking. Mountain biking in Fl? You bet! Some of the toughest riding there is. Then add to that mid 90's and 95% humidity for 5-6 months and gators and wild boar to look out for! The trails are all in old phosphate mines(strip mines) that have been reclaimed by the state and turned into mountain bike parks. That's my life in a nutshell, proud father and a dabbler in whatever catches my interest! I hope we meet again!
