Mayealie's Story
Life
I started high school at J.E.B. Stuart where I had a great time until my family moved after sophomore year. However, my heart was always with my friends at Stuart! I ended up graduating from Mt. Vernon H.S. in Alexandria where I also had great life experiences. After high school I went to George Mason University (otherwise known as the 13th grade!). I loved Mason!! I had the best time of my life so far, there. Upon college graduation I jetted off to Ohio to attend law school and now I'm back in Virginia, a law school graduate, waiting to take the Bar so I can elevate to being a bona- fide Attorney (me, a lawyer, who knew!). UPDATE: I took and passed the Bar in Maryland where I just bought my first home. It's a condo and I love it!!
School
Amongst the boring and mundane teachers of my high school years, a couple made an impact on my life. At J.E.B Stuart, I met Mr. Rodgers who inspired me to pursue law as a career. He was an incredible teacher with a personal touch and I will forever be grateful to him. At Mt. Vernon, I had the honor of being taught by Mr. Ingalls, who challenged me to think outside the box and appreciate the talents that I possessed within.
Besides these wonderful teachers, high school was also made enjoyable by the cuties lurking in the halls. At J.E.B Stuart there was Michael Cohen, Trevan, Bill Camas, Sam Belos and Andrew :) These boys kept my hormones raging. At Mt. Vernon, there was one guy that blew my mind not just because he was hotter than hot but because he was incredibly intelligent and funny. That guy of course is non other than....sorry, ...Expand for more
can't spill the beans.
At Stuart, I had fun being on the Drill Team, Cheerleading squad, basketball team, civinnetes, and student council. At Mt. Vernon, I had fun being on the cheerleading squad and track team. I still can't believe I made it to states my senior year! Looking back on my high school days, I can say that it was fun, but being the angst filled teenager that I was, it seemed more on the miserable side back then. All in all, it was a good experience.
College
Mason rocked even though I didn't do the party, sorority girl thing. The best days were my days working on the Program Board and planning Mason Week. I got to meet the Black Eyed Peas, the Roots and a host of local bands. My boyfriend and I were constantly making out in the parking lots. And most of my professors (not all) were awesome. I wish I didn't have to graduate :)
Workplace
I've had so many jobs sometimes I think I'm Jamaican. After high school I worked for Vector Marketing selling knives. What a con! I made $40 the whole summer. After that I've worked at a zillion places. Some were ground breaking- like working with Gov. Mark Warner on a new computer training program for the state, others were back breaking- like working as a care manager at Sunrise Assisted-Living. I've worked at major corporations, law firms and non-profits. Over the years I've had about 15 different jobs and internships! After working with a non-profit as a legislative aid and writer/editor I recently got my dream job working as a lobbyist for a major corporation. Life is good :)
