Megan's Story

l 6, 2013--by my reckoning this is fifty years after Mr. Ray Carney taught us haiku, and published a book of our poems (albeit purple-mimeographed), which I still have. This just goes to show that early influences run very deep in our lives, and late bloomers should never be counted out! Since "retiring" last June after many years teaching in K-12 public education, I'm now teaching Composition at Fresno City College, and memoir workshops for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Fresno State, and another memoir workshop series that is grant-funded by the Irvine Foundation and Memoir Journal. Heaven is teaching when you get to teach what you want and do not have to attend meetings. For this, as for my supportive family and good health, I am very grateful!
