After graduating from Fremont High School I attended the California Maritime Academy training for a career as a Merchant Marine officer and Naval Reservist. After two years, I resigned and went to sea as a seaman with Standard Oil on tankers, I sailed to Alaska, Hawaii, and coastal cities. A year later I returned to school and Sockton College and College of the Pacific. In 1952 I transferred to the Univ of Calif in Berkeley. I joined the Air Fore in 1954 and spent time in Wyoming, Texas, and Germany where I trained as an IBM Operator. The Air Force sent me back to Univ of Calif to complete my BA degree. After discharge in 1947, I worked at misc jobs and returned to the Univ. of Calif to obtain a teaching credential. Taking a teaching job in Los Angeles, I spent the next 28 years at several elementary and Jr High schools and taught all grades from grade one through 9.. I also taught Adult School classes for ten years at Fairfax Adult School and Reseda Adult School in Hollywood and in the San Fernando Valley. I became a reading specialist and resource specialist for learning disability students. I also completed a Masters Degree in Reading and Learning Disorders at Calif State Univ Northridge. After retiring from L A School System I substituted in So Central L A for 2 yrs and the went to work for the Rancho Santiago College as an Adult Learning Disability Specialist, eventually transferring to the Inmate Educaation Division where I taught GED, ESL, and High School Subjects in the Orange county Jails. Retiring again in 2004, I moved to Prescott AZ saying good bye to California although I visit often since my kids and brother live there. Wife died in 2012 and I'm a bachelor again and actually having a great time socializing, dancing, taking lessons in line dancing, western and square dance, exercise groups, etc. I'm still in pretty good shape and golf now and then, take a lot of car trips in my T-Bird, and just enjoying myself. Bucket list includes cruises, Hawaii visits, maybe Spain and Portugal. Have timeshare at Welk Resort in Escondido and can trade for almost anywhere in the world so who knows?
