Melanie's Story
Life
Let's see. Back living in Cambridge after several years in Somerville. Renting a house on Fresh Pond, with hubby Shawn and our two cats, Taz and Imp. Saving up cash to buy our own place in a few months. We also have a small place in Montana, where Shawn is from. It's in a 'town' called Essex, which is half way between East and West Glacier. Glacier National Park is across the Middle Fork river to the north, and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area is South, just across the highway. The year-round population of Essex is about 43. During the summer, the population quadruples, not including the tourists at the local lodges. Shawn's home town of Shelby has fewer people than the entire student body of CRLS. How's that for weird? Recently married in June, we spent our honeymoon camping throughout Yellowstone National Park, and driving throughout the southern part of Montana, including Lewis & Clark Caverns, Bozeman, Red Lodge, Custer National Forest and the Shoshone National Forest. We made it back to Glacier on the same day they reopened the east entrance to the park, after the terrible forest fires there this summer ('06).
School
My biggest crush? Hell, I had a new crush every week! It was High School after all, and I've always been a terrible romantic. Of course, some crushes lasted longer than others... There are a few that come to mind off the top of my head though (let's see; th...Expand for more
ere was a Brian, and a couple of Matts, and a Jim... or was his name Joe?) At any rate, others I would have to look up. I think I still have my highschool diary someplace (I'm such a pack rat). Guess you guys will just have to email me to find out if your name was in there any where. ;-)
College
Marine Biology - the day trip to the Cape Cod seashore. Wont say another word about it. Man, did I love that class.
Also, my Organic Chem labs. Not the class per se, just the labs. I had the best quad ever (lab partners were arranged in 2 sets of 2 - your bench partner, and your quad, with whom you shared notes and results). My partners were just really cool people. Every weekend after lab, we would all go out to breakfast together, and just chill. Then it was back to the library to write up our reports and study for the rest of the day. They really made that class enjoyable for me.
Workplace
Let me just say this: when you fly to the SAME place every single week without fail (NYC in my case)... its no longer "Travel". It's a commute. And a 6 hour round trip commute is a headache I just don't need! I am soooo glad I went back to consulting!
I will say though, that I really do miss the Pega parties. Good times, but I will never table dance again, so help me.
I just need to find the drinkers in my current office. I miss having a group to hang out at the bar with once in a while.
