Born in Timmins, Ontario, flutist Melanie Desmarais is renown for her energetic performances, her rich and powerful tone, and for her great musicality. She studied at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Gatineau receiving the Prix and Diplôme dÂétudes musicales II in 2002, and at the University of Montreal with Denis Bluteau, obtaining a Diplôme dÂétudes supérieures spécialisées in orchestral repertoire in 2003 and a Masters degree in ...Expand for more
performance in 2005. Thanks to the National Arts Centre Orchestra AssociationÂs Award she received during the 2001 edition of the NACO Bursary Competition, Ms. Desmarais was able to further her studies with Emmanuel Pahud, Mathieu Dufour and Susan Hoeppner at the Domaine Forget Music and Dance Academy. Founding member of the Voce Mobile and Ponticello ensembles, Melanie Desmarais also teaches the flute at the Studio de musique Diane M. Drouin in Repentigny.
