Melinda's Story
College
I got my BA in Public and Political Communications from Georgia State University in 1999, followed by my MA in Applied Linguistics in 2008.
Workplace
I feel very lucky to have found a profession that I absolutely love! In 2004 I went to Japan to teach English, mostly for fun, and discovered that I could totally see myself teaching- and living abroad!- for many years to come.
I returned to the US after a year in Japan and completed grad school, which opened the door to so many great opportunities! While in grad school I was awarded a grant to spend a semester studying in Mexico. Upon graduation I received a ...Expand for more
fellowship from the US Department of State to live and work at a university in Indonesia for 10 months doing teacher and technology training.
Now, I am working at my dream job! I'm in Seoul, South Korea working for Samsung (yes, the one that makes electronics) at their Human Resources Development Center. I do cultural and business language instruction. It's a really rewarding job and I;m really good at it!
Personal
I'm still single, no kids. It allows me to take advantage of any adventure or opportunity that comes my way, so I'm very happy! One day maybe I'll settle down, but right now, I'm enjoying living my dream!
