Melissa's Story
Life
I left South Africa with my family near the end of 1982 and moved to Port Arthur TX where I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1983. My family and I moved to Slidell, LA after graduating. I worked there for a while, then my family moved again, this time to Washington state. There I got a job with Honeywell and shortly thereafter my parents moved back to TN while I stayed in Washington. While there I met my husband, Andy, who was in the Navy at the time. We eventually got married after dating for about 2 years and moved around some more. We moved to Idaho and lived there for 4 years. Our first daughter, Amanda was born there in 1994. tired from the Navy in 2002 and we moved to White Hall, Arkansas where we lived for 5 years. In July 2007, we moved back home to TN where I am loving being back home with family. My husband, Andy is still employed with PenPower and traveling all over while I stay at home in TN and raise the girls.
Amanda is now 15 and in 10th grade and Jamie is 11 and in 6th grade. They both do very well in school and I am very proud of them.
I am a stay at home mom. I am also a Wilton cake decorating instructor here in TN. I teach classes at Hobby Lobby. I also take decorative painting classes for something to do for me time. I love what I do and enjoy teaching people a new craft. It's a great job to be able to teach someone something new and see their delight in their own accomplishment.
