Melissa's Story
Life
Hi (insert your name here,)
Wow, long time no see! How the heck have you been? Dang, you look good!
Me? Well, there's nothing exciting to tell about me. I'm happily married and I'm the proud mom of four great kids. As of this writing, I have three college graduates all gainfully employed, full time and very good at what they do and I have one very creative and talented honor student who is still in high school.
Political/Civic: Democrat Precinct Committeeman for Clintonia 6. Web/Domain master for and active member of the DeWitt Co. Dems. I was on the initial board of directors of the DeWitt County Development Council and served on the Steering Committee that brought the DCDC into existence. I ran for a seat on the DeWitt County Board in 06 -- I didn't win, but I did really well. I was the media coordinator for Ed Wollet's Mayoral Campaign (Ed did win!) and I was a very strong supporter of David Gill in all of his bids for Congress.
Web: (Besides managing the DeWitt Dems online presence,) I author a liberal/progressive political commentary blog (that's been backburnered for awhile.) I own, manage and design for several popular online boutiques on various POD fulfillment services (Zazzle, Skreened, Cafepress, et al) I own, author and manage a popular fan info site and fan forum. I occasionally accept freelance web/graphic design work.
Other Work: I was the co-founder, co-developer and C.O.O. of a startup B2B in the auto wholesale industry that my business partner and I have had in development for more than a year. I'm retired from real-estate speculation and "slumlording." I'm currently taking an extended bre...Expand for more
ak from all but my online POD shops to deal with the aftermath of our house and almost everything we owned having burned down in Feb 2013.
15 minutes: Remember the hot-selling t-shirt that made international headlines after Vice President Joe Biden accidentally dropped the F-bomb too close to a live mic? That was my shirt. If you saw the Snapple commercial awhile back and wondered if that was me, it was. I was supposed to be the featured subject of a Canadian television documentary over the winter of 06/07, but couldn't work it into my schedule, so backed out of the project. I'm a barely published poet, humorist and parodist, but I've long since shifted my writing energies into peddling slogan ware -- it's easier to fit into my overbooked schedule, lead time is nil and it's quite lucrative.
...And talking about myself bores me into a stupor, so....
Maybe we'll bump into one another again some time and you can catch me up on what's been going on with you, over a piping hot cup of Joe.
Take care and be well.
Mel.
R.I.P. Keith Miller 1967 - 2003. I so enjoyed getting to grow up with you, my friend. Thanks for all the good memories... and for sharing your ultra cool Star Trek toys with me in 2nd grade even though I was a girl. You are so dearly missed, sweet soul.
