Melissa's Story
Well I am Not sure What to say! I am not even sure who I am, besides being a caring, loving, and generous person! I don't know what really makes me tick. I have grown alot since High School. I have learned many lessons. I am glad that I can settle down more now.
Four years ago, I left my Mother's house and ran off with a boy. It wasn't completely because I was being childish, but I know that was part of it. The other part was because my Step-Father was Physically, Mentally, and Verbally abusing me and my family!
I grew abusive myself and I relized this when He was yelling at me one night. My Mother was mad at me for turning around in my chair when we were at the dinner table. I kept turning around so that I could watch tv, but I was supposed to be eating my food. My Mother and I kept fighting with each other about this until My Step-Father yelled at me. When I was done with my food I helped my mother by taking my Sister's plate and my plate into the kitchen for her. My Step-Father had been drinking and was flaming mad that I got up from the table, yet he had not told me to stay put. Once I was in the kitchen he came storming in after me. My Mother had turned her back for about a ...Expand for more
minute or two, because she was washing dishes. While he was yelling at me, he slammed his fist against my head three times. On the third time, I slapped him across the face as hard as I could and sprinted off towards my room. Once I got there, I locked the door.
My mother camme up to my room and tried to get me out of there. I was soo afraid that he was right behind her that I didn't want to unlock the door at first. I soon changed my mind when I looked under the bottom of the door and only saw my mother. She explained that she thought it was him who hit me, and when she heard the sound she spun around with a knife in her hand. She said that she had thought it was him hitting me. She told me that he had welts on his face from where I hit him. He told her that he was grabbing my shirt collar and thats when I smacked him for no apparent reason. She knew that there was more to the story. So I told her about what had happened. Because he was so drunk he thought he was grabbing my shirt, but he was really pounding my head with his fist.
That is when I knew it was no longer safe for me to be in that house. I tried called the cops on him, and he wiggled his way out of it. So I ran away!
