Melissa's Story
After High School I went into the work force and worked odd jobs until I was employed by the Columbia Police Dept. in 1986. I married Steve Miller in 1988. After working five years in law enforcement I decided to pursue a music degree and completed my Bachelor of Music Education at Lander University. During my freshman year at Lander I became pregnant and had my daughter Katie in September of 1992. I graduated from Lander in 1996 and completed my Master of Music Education in 1998. ere I taught music in the public school system for 3 years. I work for Shorter College as an adjunct professor of Music and Humanities. I have worked in musical theatre and was cast in a production of The Sound of Music and as the Beggar Woman in Ontage Atlanta's production of Sweeny Todd. Pursuing a career in Broadcasting, I also work as a singer, voice over artist, television writer and producer. I also co-own a successful entertainment company in Atlanta. My life has taken many twists and turns and I continue to grow.
