Life
Melissa Lynn Gray (Oldenburg) (Liverance) Husb Matthew, Daughter Gillian Laine. After college moved to Chicago (10 yrs), St. Louis, MO (5), Texas (3) Leading quiet suburban existence--balancing rigors of family & career.
School
Some of my best memories of school are are at Novi Woods Elementary, back by the swingsets,the woods and the small shimmering creek picking up rocks and stuffing them into my pockets.
I remember sitting in Mrs. Hursts first grade classroom reading books in the warm afternoon sunlight. To have those days back.......
Now my daughter grader comes home and I do her laundry and find HER pockets full of pebbles and small shiny things she's stuffed in her pockets.......and smile.
A few winters ago, I drove back to Novi Woods parking lot late one night near Christmas time. The snow was bright enough to see by with the headlights off. The swingsets are in a different place but the woods were right where my mind had left them...Expand for more
. I drove around to where Mrs. Hursts door was looking out on the woods and quietly took myself back......
College
And then you go to the College that has been chosen for you (instead of the one chosen by you). You take the "best" path in front of you, (unsure where it's going or what you want) but before you know it, you stumble upon something that really starts to makes sense. (Finally, the kind of sense that your Mother understands!!!)
And just when it's getting good, you suddenly have 124 credit hours and figure out you're at the threshold of real life.
Everyone is asking you "what's next",
But there is no path, just wide open space. Time to redefine yourself again.
Workplace
And then you work for yourself a little while and love it and hate it at the same time....You move to a 'respectable' corporate job. Fifteen years later you're wondering if it's too late to go to law school and start all over again......ahhhh "restless satisfaction"
