Melissa's Story
Well as you can see from photos attached I have one son. I'm still single and looking but for now most of my time is devoted to him. Cameron is special needs child with celebral palsy, ADHD, and moderately mentally challenged. It has been a job to do it all alone but well worth it. Yes, I'm a proud Mama and have every right to be. He wasn't expected to be much in this life, not walk, not do much of nothing. But his willpower and mine to fight him through it all, he now walks(with supports in the shoes), doesn't run very well, talks (hard to understand most of the time, and then talks too much most of the other), looks like most any other kid around. He's got the spirit to live. We (both of us) were featured on CN2 (local station on cable in Rock Hill) during his story where Cameron was awarded Athlete of the W...Expand for more
eek (televised 4/19/07). They talked about his struggles he had to overcome. But Cameron won't ever be able to be a normal athlete but he participates in Special Olympics every year since he was three. But he is also the team manager for the JV and Varsity football and girl softball teams at his school since ninth grade. He is very much like "Radio" from Anderson, SC, but Cameron has his own nickname here in town which is Cambo. Cameron isn't just popular within just his school, no it's the entire town. Every where we go, there is someone who knows him and me now. I'm always going to be known as Cameron's Mom. I feel like I have gone through high school again with him and all the kids. I'm always having to be right there in the middle of them helping out. It's great really. Anyway, I hope you all keep in touch.
