Melissa's Story
Life
I've seen about 75% of the U.S. and some of Canada now from the driver's seat of my car. I suggest everyone take a road trip at least half way across the U.S. The best place I visited was the Grand Canyon at night in the middle of a snow storm. It was beautiful and quiet and you couldn't really see the canyon in the dark but when I stepped to the edge, I felt the great emptiness in every ounce of my being and for a moment I felt peace.
I've had a hard time with peace since high school. Death has taken (literally) half of my family and I had to struggle to put myself through school and be there for my family at the same time. The hardest thing I went through was the sudden death of my mother 2 weeks before my last set of finals. I came home, helped arrange the funeral, handled all the family affairs and came back and passed all of my finals. My mother was my best friend... it was really hard. I'm a soldier at heart.

ouse, got a job and helped dad get back on his feet emotionally. After a year, I set out to start *my* life. Now I'm a Solutions Architect at EMC.
I recently married a Canadian named Mike. He is perfect for me. I have a 19 month old son named Jaden. My brother Wade is engaged and should be married next year. I have 3 nieces and a nephew(none are Wade's). No pets, gave the cat to grandma (he preferred her because I am never home).
On top of being technically oriented, I'm also an artist. I have done several "museum material" drawings and such dealing mostly with abstraction based on emotion. I have not submitted any of them because I'm waiting to release a series and see if it sells. It's not a career, just something to do in my free time when I can't be outside.
Most of my family is gone from St Louis now. Jobs and other life events have just moved them all away. I don't expect to visit much, but if I get word of a school reuinion, I'll try to be there.
