Mellissa's Story
Life
After highschool, I continued at Eckerd through 2001. I completed college, after nine years (life happened in between) and I now have 2 boys, Colin (3-96) and Connor (11-98). I moved to Fruit Cove just before I graduated from UNF in August 2001 with a B.B.A. in marketing. I now work for Disney in a great job and no longer work for Eckerd (thank god!!). I am now (4/2005) divorced and have just bought a house in St. Augustine. Can't move too far from the parents!!
School
Sometimes I miss being a teenager. I'm too caught up in the day to day drama of work, mothering my children, taking care of my pets, etc. I don't have too much time for myself and at times really feel overloaded. I wish I could go back to the days of only having homework and a meaningless job as my responsibilities. I really miss Mr. J. (choir teacher) and Kim Holmes (the peer counseling teacher). If I could go back to highschool again, I would have listened to my father and dated someone from our school as opposed to someone in another part of town so that I wouldn't have spent so much time driving around. I would have participated in more sports and have more school spirit...Expand for more
. I would apply myself a bit harder and make better grades, even though they weren't too bad back then. I would do all this differently, but I wouldn't change the fact that I have two wonderful kids right now (at least most of the time). They are the highlight of my life.
College
I really don't miss college too much. I spent my time doing too much homework and not enough goofing off, but at least I can say I made it through. I finally landed a job using my degree and I absolutely LOVE it. I have the freedom to work when I want to, where I want to, and I'm practically my own boss. As of 6-2005, I have returned back to school for a 3rd degree. I guess I am a glutton for punishment. This time the degree will be in the medical field and with that I plan to start my own business (since the second degree was business administration/marketing).
Workplace
I am not working full time at this point in time. I have been looking since 9-11 and my field isn't essential to the profitability of a company, so it's always first to go in an economic downturn. I want to find an administrative/managerial job using my marketing/business administration degree.
