Melody Ann's Story
My story? Hmmmm I was born in Odessa, Texas in 1951. I moved to Lubbock in 1958 when my Mother placed me and my sister, Brenda, in the Church of Christ Children's Home. I started going to Roosevelt in the 2nd grade in September of 1958 and graduated on my 18th birthday in 1969!! I was amazed at how God granted me that wonderful gift for that all important birthday!! I married Jerry McNeely from New Deal in September of that year and started working for the TG&Y Warehouse. Our first child, Justin, was born in August, 1973 and our next and last child, J'Tina, was born in May, 1978. I went to work for Methodist Hospital in January of 1974 and left there in January of 1982. A couple of months later, I went to work for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where I worked for 3 years. Finally, my prayers were answered (or so it seemed at the time) when I was hired to work for the United States Postal Service. I have been on Tour I (or the 11 pm to 7:30 am s...Expand for more
hift) and have had to work nearly all of that time on the weekends also! Both of those things can be very hazardous to your marriage, as they were to mine, and Jerry and I divorced in 1992. Our son lives in Dallas with his wife, Dina and their daughter, Clarke, who was born September 11, 2008. Our daughter, fortunately for me, lives with me and tries her best to help me get to work on time!! LOL The only other interesting tidbit about me that I think others might find interesting is that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998. And thanks to the prayers of my family, and those of my wonderful co-workers and other friends and many prayer warriors that I never met but who prayed fiercely for my healing, I am alive today and seeminly free from the cancer that once roamed my body! I do have many health problems that I did not have before my cancer diagnosis and treatment. But, I am alive and I am trying as graciously as possible to live life one day at a time.
