Melody's Story
Life
I've been divorced many years. I was married to Bob Bett from OHS and divorced in 1983. He passed away in 2004. I have 3 grown sons, 2 of whom have been married, divorced & remarried; the 3rd is still single. I now have 5 beautiful grandchildren, 15, 15, 13, 12 & 10. Living in E Patchogue, NY since 2/11. Had been in the mortgage industry for 40 years, with 20 spent as an underwriter/supervisor. Was officially retired on Disability for 4 years, but am thinking of looking for part time work. Love spending time traveling & grandchildren & cooking; looking for a new hobby.
I always wanted to be a hairdresser when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a lousy idea. As it turns out, they were right. My secretarial background gave me a great foundation for my career in the banking industry. Boy am I glad I am no longer in mortgage banking!
Thinking about going on a cruise. Have finally moved into my own place again. I blow off steam by sitting down with a good book, or go for an aimless drive. Wildest thing I ever did in school was skip out to go to the Jackson Hotel fire in Long Beach to see all the new firemen from the HS working on the fire.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Darlene Behr, because she was one of my bridesmaids. I am also trying to locate Bon...Expand for more

If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to church, then spend the rest on paying off my children's mortgages, a new home for myself, maybe a new energy efficient car, and investments.
After losing 40 lb last year, I have changed my style and don't wear big baggy shirts anymore (sometimes around the house)
1st Place Team Bowling Trophy our team won the last year I bowled before the knee replacement. It was at County Line Bowl.
If I could do one thing over, I would live with someone before I got married and I would wait longer.
My oldest friend was Christine Hauser who moved in behind me in Oceanside. We were only about 4 yrs old and played together all the time. She is now in Fla, but I have no way of reaching her. I do chat with her younger sister, whom we use to babysit all the time.
My first job was at Woolworth's, where I got paid about $3.50 to serve at the snack counter. What I remember most about it is the night of the blackout in 64 or 65..
I will never forget when I went into my neighbor's new pool for the first time and turned the pool red because I had stepped on a piece of glass that was still in my toe. I had to go to the ER, but the neighbor was ripped about having to drain and refill the pool.
My youngest is a little miffed at women in general. That, too, will change.
