Melody's Story
Life
Yes,I'm still crazy! (Does anyone remember "The Battle of Jericho?") I've managed to survive the world & still love life.(Am I really now in my 40's ?!?) Miss y'all!!
BTW, the pic I've downloaded is of me, my son, his girlfriend, my daughter, and one of my dogs...Tsado. My son is in the USMC, Sgt., my daughter is the little one. As for me, I would have downloaded a better pic, but this shows where my heart is. (My daughter, Keisomah, is my reason; a real special child; the light of my life; my spiritual connection.)
I am a Unitarian, (look it up...I truly try to follow the UU principles). I am in sales, but my life is so much more. I am highly involved in a lot of social and political issues. I absolutely HATE intolerance... of any kind: religious, racial, sexual-orientation, yada-yada-yada...(guess I'm intolerant).
I give sermons at church, march in the gay pride parade, protest the war in Iraq, love my USMC son, support the military, celebrate Kwanzaa, denounce Kwanzaa, get the heebie-jeebies when I view our current president, am pro-choice, semi-Buddhist, probably Pagan...and love this mother earth.
(What the hell am I doing in Oklahoma?!?)
I've been through lots.
I've survived the death of a husband, my first; suffered at the hands of another, my second; and still trying to figure out the third.
But, I'm still me.
Yes, I'm still crazy. But, I still love life.
And I look forward to the rest of it.
School
My biggest crush...hmmm...let's see, probably Vito Petruzella (although he never knew it), and, definetely, Eddie Velazquez (though he left me in 8th grade probably because I wasn't loose enough). I also adored Grover Barfield (his intelligence), Eddie Estrella (sexy guy, even at 16---loved him in "Bye-Bye Birdie"), Jyotikumar Kanabar (loved his mother), John Miskuli...Expand for more
n (one of dearest friends at the time---should have been me and you at the prom, hon!), Eddie Serrano (great hair), Cory Van Heuman (great human!!!), and a score of others in my class, before my class, and after my class. Bet, you all didn't know this about me. (Yes, I am looking at the yearbook.)
Favorite teacher: Substitute Librarian...Mr. Montroni (yummy), and Mr. DiAngelo (sub-music man, temp jazz band, lovely man...had fun with him), Mr. Faro, band...and Mr. Meyers, choir---love you Robert Meyers!!!
Yes, I would do it all again. But, thank the powers that be I don't have to.
Craziest memory: When Debbie Iocca and I smoked a joint, drank some god-awful Boone's Farm, and then had to play in the marching band for a football game. We ended up running off the field to the port-a-potty, during formation. (I laid the glockespiel down on the field, and off I went. Oh, my!)
Sure was fun.
College
College 1: right afer high school, Jersey City State College, Music/ English major (nothing accomplished through this).
College 2: at 38, Oklahoma City Community College, History Educ./ Sociology major; associates degree(went on to a four year school)
College 3: at 40, University of Central Oklahoma, History Educ./ Sociology major (bachellors degree; taught high-school history at Memorial H.S. in Edmond, Ok.; temp teaching at OKCCC; did a stint teaching political history at OKCCC)
Nothing further. Needed to make money. (Oklahoma does not have a record of paying its' teachers well.) I am now selling lighting, home furnishings, and decorative accents. Sorry, the money is good and I have a daughter to raise.
I'd really like to pursue my education farther. Perhaps, anthropology or theology. I think that history, sociology, politics, and religion are closely related when looking at the human experience.
