Melvin's Story
Well hello there!
Today is October 14th, 2022.
COVID-19 for the most part? Is over; each day...the world is getting closer to being back to normal.
A little bit about me. My name is Melvin. I prefer to be called Mel.
I was born in Indiana, raised in Bermuda (2 years), Nebraska (4 years), Japan (4 years), Nebraska (2 years), Arkansas (2 years), Indiana (6 months), and another year and a half later, graduated from Jacksonville HS in 1977.
My dad was in the Air Force and retired in 1974. I joined the Arkansas Army National Guard as an Avionics Mechanic in 1979. In 1981, I joined the Air Force as a Crew Chief and was stationed in Bergstrom AFB, Austin Texas. Crossed trained to a Flight Engineer in 1985 and was stationed at Little Rock AFB, Jacksonville Arkansas till 1990. Rhein-Main AB Germany till 1992. I married Teri Hightower in 1983, had two children (daughter now 39 and son 38) and was divorced in 2009. Married Pranee White (Idom) in 1994, had one child (daughter now 25) and divorced in 2008.
I worked at Merritts Beach in Nebraska during the summers of my 7th & 8th grades. Worked at Dairy Queen on Main Street in Jacksonville Arkansas my 11th & 12th grade. Club Aluminum on Redman Road until I joined the Air Force.
After retiring, I worked as an Assistant Manager at Walgreens in Spring Texas (1.5 years), Human Resource Administrator at Louis Shanks Furniture, Houston Texas (7 years), Office Manager at Bac Trac Plumbing for several months and now as the Human Resource Manager at BWFS Industries (Gas & Oil) (almost 7 years now).
