Melvin Eucalyptus's Story
Growing up under dark rural skies in rural Carlton, I became interested in astronomy at an early age and have pursued things astronomical all my life. In 1979 I saw my first total solar eclipse, which so impacted my life I morphed into an instant eclipse chaser. The following year saw me in Kenya to see my second...and so it has gone and I have now seen eight, including the most recent one this last August from Madras, Oregon.
My other interest besides traveling in general is motorcycling which I have ridden since I was 16. Now have a sport/tourer...a Honda XS 1100 which I just had serviced and am preparing to do a solo ride along the many fine and somewhat isolated roads of northern CA.

l be a walk in the park for me as four years ago I rode my other bike clear around the country.....first destination Key West, Florida....then on to Maine. I can now say I have been to every state in the union, including Alaska and Hawaii.
My wife loves to ride too, but a fall last year in an isolated section of Australia resulted in a broken kneecap and makes it difficult for her to bend her knee for long periods of time.
At this point, I have been to every continent except South America, but that is about to change. In 2019 there will be a total solar eclipse visible from central Chili which my wife and I plan to see and visit Machu Pichu while we are there, which is a site we have both longed to see. .
