Merissa's Story
Life
So much has happened, I'm not sure where to start. I got married in August 2001. My husband and I have three kids (Colby - 5, Hailey - 4, and Brooklyn - 1). Jeramy and I bought a house in West Eugene in 2003. We've been slowly (when we have time!) fixing it up how we want it, and that's fun. Colby is in preschool right now, and will start kindergarden in the fall. We're finding that the competition to get your kid into some of these immersion schools is ridiculous! He's been entered into a lottery, so we'll see. Hailey is in preschool now too, and loving it. Brooklyn hangs out with me at work most of the day, and we have fun. Jeramy recently switched careers and is working for BCI now. It's a much better fit and he can't be happier. Everything is just going really well for us.
School
Would I do it all over again? Probably not, b...Expand for more
ut there's a lot I would like to change about high school. I'd love to know what Mr. Hattenhauer is doing now; if he's still teaching.
College
God, college was a bit of a blur for me. Right after high school, I got married and had kids, then decided that I wanted to go to college. I kind of wish I had gone before having children, as it was pretty hard to balence school and three kids, but it worked out okay.
Workplace
I have my B.S. in Accounting and I'm working as a conservator in the Eugene / Springfield area. Basically, when an elderly person is unable to handle their own finances, the court appoints someone like me to take over the financial aspects of their life. I pay their bills, handle investments, etc. It's been a great job to have with kids, because I'm able to set my own hours and even take them with me if need be. I love it.
