Michael's Story
While a senior at SHS I played on the Varsity baseball team, and worked at WSTR radio, broadcasting sports and the evening music time. After my first year at Glenn Oaks, I married Janet Caywood, and we moved to Kalamazoo. There we attended WMU, and I worked in two radio stations. The second station, WAOP in Otsego (just north of Kazoo) was a C & W radio station. While there my wife and I both became Christians, and began living for our Lord Jesus Christ in 1971. In 1974 I believed the Lord was calling me to preach the Gospel of Christ, and we moved to Chattanooga, TN to attend Tennessee Temple University (a conservative Baptist college) to study for the ministry. Since then I have pastored 3 Churches, the first two in Tennessee, and the present one, Madison Baptist Church in Madison, AL, where we have been since 1989. dren. Our oldest daughter, Kathy, and her husband are missionaries in Puerto Rico, My youngest daughter, Kari, teaches in our Christian School, and her husband is on staff at our Church.
I have had the privilege of starting 3 Christian day schools, and have served as president of the Alabama Christian Education Association, and served as a board member with the American Association of Christian School. On 9/11 I was at the White House with over 100 Christian Educators when the attacks took place. We could see the smoke billowing from the Pentagon.
Besides preaching at Madison Baptist Church, a congregation that averages about 650 in attendance each Sunday, I have preached in 18 foreign countries, and 38 States. Plus our web site contains over 900 Bible messages under the heading "Sermon Audio." In addition, our church operates and LP and Internet radio station, WVMB.
