Michael's Story

I have been in Dallas since 1986. I took a job that I swore to my Mom and Dad would only be for a year. I met my future wife six months later. We were married in 1989. We had our daughter in 1992 and our son in 1997. Rode the technology bubble up and fell down when it crashed. Currently, I manage a sales group for Innerwireless, Inc. We sell antenna systems to make wireless work inside. I'm loving life with my family. Typical nuclear family that most of us had growing up. Kids are great, no drugs, no arrests and no babies. I guess that is half the battle these days. I had been nowhere interesting my whole life until I got married. Have been all over the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada. My father-in-law has provided three trips that I would never expected to do. First, to Sweden for the 1994 Noble Prize Ceremony for my father-in-law. He won the Noble prize for Chemistry or Physics. Second, off to Indianapolis for the Indy 500. I know, not very exciting to non-race fans but to me this was a holy shrine. Third, ten days in Africa to safari and visit villages. ean on today. I was mostly laid back. One major event in my life was being diagnosed with Adrenomyeloneuropathy. It is like MS and has been slightly disabling. I went through 16 months of being misdiagnosed from ALS to cancer to whatever. Each diagnosis came with a death concern. This was in 1993-1994. AMN is rare disease with unknown outcome. It has only effected my legs today and I am very thankful I have the adult version. If it had developed as a child, its outcome is not so good. Learn more at ulf.org . Anyway, if you have read this, just don't forget to enjoy a little of today. Even if it is just 5 minutes while you brush your teeth, while the kids are banging on the door because the cat just threw up. Now that the sappy part is over, I have not really changed since high school. I am not some crazed religious guy (although I am still Catholic). I am just a little older, little heavier, and due to my wife, I dress better. If we ever do get a chance to meet up, ask me about the domino theory. It is amazing to me how often you can actually see how one decision in your life can take you in a different direction. I hope everyone has had the same opportunities for success and are doing well.
