Michael's Story
After Fairview High, I went to Sinclair Community College and obtained an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement sciences.
In 1975 I joined the Dayton Police Department and was a beat cop, a motorcycle officer, a SWAT sniper, firearms training Range Master, and Helicopter Pilot. I flew patrols and obtained FAA certifications as a commercial pilot and Certified Flight Instructor for helicopters
In 2001 I retired after 26 years of service.
Three days later, I was asked to go to work at the Butler County as the firearms training Range Master and Chief Pilot for...Expand for more
the Aviation Unit.
I currently have over 13000 hrs of helicopter flight time and 2000 hrs of airplane flight time.
I plan to stay at the Sheriffs Office for least two more years full time to train a Deputy to take my place as Chief Pilot. After that, I will still help out as long as I am able.
I have three children with 11 grandchildren and a beautiful wife who has been wonderful to tolerate me and especially my job. It has not been an easy road but, even if I could, I wouldn’t change a thing.
I feel that I have been very fortunate and very blessed.
