Michael's Story
Life
A journalism grad from GSU in 1976, I worked for the Marietta Daily Journal/Neighbor Newspapers for two years before going to work in the marketing department for Lake Lanier Islands. I was recruited to move to Houston, Texas in 1979, went to work for Six Flags AstroWorld and have been in travel and tourism marketing ever since. I have been lucky enough to work for Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera (of Yogi and Scooby fame), the largest waterpark in southeast Texas, and currently coordinate the tourism, marketing and festival program for the City of Tomball, Texas - population 10,000 - just northwest of Houston.
I began freelance writing professionally many years ago and now have a regular base of national and local clients ...Expand for more
including the Country's Best Log Homes magazine, CountryStyle, Texas, Bluegrass Unlimited magazine and The Houston Chronicle. I am also acted as publicist and photographer for several Texas bands and recording studios. My most recent assignments have included being a tourism marketing consultant for Dauphin Island, Alabama, a publicist for a Texas honky-tonk band, and a travel/tourism blogger for an online travel site. Pre-Civil War plantation turned bed and breakfast, Bocage Plantation is my newest freelance account.
I have been married more times that I want to admit, but have now been married for 20-years, have two terrific sons and three equally as great step kids. I have three grand kids, too. Who'd have thunk it?
