Michael's Story
Since I graduated from McDowell and Erie County Vo-Tech, other than 3 months that I was laid off, I've been working steady. I started at Erie Press Systems in the engineering department while still in school. They hired me on full time once I graduated. I married my girl friend in May of 1985. A couple years later in 1987, I got laid off due to a lack of orders and started working for Lake Erie Electric in their engineering and service departments. In late 1988 my marriage headed south and I got divorced in May of 1989 (she got the house). In October of 1989, I started working at National Fuel Gas in the engineering department. In early 1990, my ex-wife remarried and I bought the house back. Since I started with NFG, I've been involved in testing and administering a computerized mapping system for all of the pipelines in NW Pennsylvania and western New York. We're in the process of replacing the existing mapping system with a new one. I really enjoy working with these mapping systems.
Enough about work. Back in the summer of 1997, I got a female Chocolate Lab named Nikki. Nikki and I have been taking on ...Expand for more
the world together ever since.
In March of 2003, I got back into my real passion, CARS. I bought a 2003 limited edition Chevy Monte Carlo and have been taking it to car shows. I joined a Monte Carlo car club and every year they have a "National" car show. Each year it's in a different city. It's turned into my summer vacation. I've been to Nashville, TN and toured the Jack Daniel's Distillery, Bowling Green, KY and went through the Corvette assembly plant. In the summer of 2009, the Monte Carlo Club car show is outside St. Louis, I'm looking foreword to it.
This past October, I went to a car show in Virginia. Due to a NASCAR race in Martinsville, VA., I had to stay in Mt. Airy, NC. That's the town that Mayberry from the Andy Griffith show was based on. It was strange to walk down Main Street and see Floyd's Barber Shop. I enjoy fishing, but over the last couple years, I haven't really had a chance to get out much. Between work, remodeling my house a room at a time, and helping out my parents, time seems to fly by. Hopefully I'll get more time to get in some fishing.
That's pretty much my life in general.
