Michael's Story
Life
After high school, I tried UMSL for a semester and decided it wasn't for me. I joined the Navy and after two years of school I eventually found my way to the aircraft carrier, USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70) where I spent four years sailing around the Pacific & Indian Oceans. I visited 11 countries during 3 "West-Pac" cruises. One cruise included 107 consecutive days at sea, and two others took the ship into the Bering Sea where no other aircraft carrier had ever gone before. I got married in 1986, became a father 2 years later, and again 2.5 years after that. After discovering the cause, I had the child production department disabled permanently. My family returned to St. Louis after my discharge from the Navy and I went to work building, repairing, & servicing overhead cranes & hoists. I've been in the same profession since 1989 and am presently the Service Manager for my employer.
As statistics would have it, I joined the fraternal order of divorced people in December 2005 after almost 20 years of marriage. Now that the shock of it is over, I'm moving forward with my life and, with the help of friends, am getting pretty good at being single.
Thanks to Classmates, I've connected with old friends and made a few new ones. Since I left St. Louis as a teenager and came back married, I'm using my 40's to learn what I missed all those years. Ooooch Baby - am I having fun!
