Michael's Story
Life
Ok, after graduation in 1978 I went to work briefly for WorkBench Furniture in the Flats as a deliveryman. After 6 months I joined Samsel Supply and did various jobs ranging from pollution recovery to canvas worker to truck driver. I mostly was a truck driver for 5 of the 6 years I was there. In 1984 I finally figured out that I couldn't drink all the beer in Cleveland (only because there simply isn't enough time), and finally got my butt to college. ics Lab. After 6 years or so I jumped ship to join the "dot com" boom with a company called Digex. Within 3 mos my stock options were worth $1.3M dollars and within another 6 months they were worth only pennies! Somehow the company weathered the collapse of the dot com era and we were acquired by Worldcom then MCI and finally Verizon. So now I'm with Verizon Business as the director of 24/7 technical operations for their web hosting business. I have about 135 employees who are AWESOME and we host websites for a lot of Fortune 100 companies like Novartis, American Honda, JCrew, and more. Kathy and I have two kids, 7 and 9 years of age. We're active in our church and enjoy biking, running, and swimming. We recently both ran in the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler in Washington, DC and are signed up for the Army Ten Miler in October. I'm not fast, but I finish!
