Michael's Story
So, here's my life. I graduated from college with an American Studies degree and spent four long years writing about the carpet business. (The high point was visiting the "world's fair of carpets and floor coverings" in Hannover, Germany. Surreal stuff.) By 1999, I was sick of that and went and got a couple of master's degrees. For the past four years, I've worked as an architectural historian for the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, which is a lot of fun. I live a life of noble but amusing poverty in Brooklyn with five over-watered houseplants. If you find yourself in Brooklyn sometime, feel free to drop in. ce, so I have time to clean the bathroom.) During work hours, I'm unusually in Lower Manhattan (except when I'm joyriding around the city looking for its forgotten architectural gems), so if you're down there, drop in anytime. I don't clean the bathroom there, so there's no need for advance notice.
