Michael's Story
Life
I have been married since 1992 to my childhood sweetheart, Victoria, from my hometown of Bellerose, NY. My beautiful wife and I have two beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed daughters Melissa (born 1997) and Annelise (2000). We live in Melbourne, Florida.
I work for Northrop Grumman, the same company I've worked for since 1985--although it was just Grumman then.
Life is great and we couldn't be happier!
If you're a part of my past I'd love to hear from you. Search the Internet and you will find me.
Workplace
November 2006 I've worked for Northrop Grumman as an Engineer for my entire professional career. I can't imagine a better company to work for.
Starting in 1985, I worked for three and one half years on Long Island, most of them on the EA-6B program as an Antenna & Radome engineer. The last 6 months I spent working research and development on conformal antenna structures. During this time I received my first patent, on radome technology.
In 1989 I accepted a "9 month short term assignment" at Los Alamos National Laboratory where I was designing RF control systems for particle accelerators. These accelerators were to be space-based weapons for President Reagan's Star War...Expand for more
s program and also for basic physics research. I learned a bunch about RF system design and RF circuit design, received a second patent on an RF Control System, and co-authored several papers. New Mexico was fun (skiing, hiking, the weather and the food) but when Victoria and I decided to start a family we wanted to move back to the East Coast closer to family. Victoria had been teaching in Espanola, NM. We wound up staying in Los Alamos for 8 years.
In 1997 we moved to Melbourne, FL for me to work on the E-8C Joint STARS program. I was System Architect and System Analyst on several communications upgrades and have been very successful. I have stayed with my passion, RF and Communications. I have published a couple of papers, regularly teach in-house courses on RF, Communications and Cosite, and have three patents in the works.
I have resisted the temptation to move toward management and can honestly say I have no regrets. During 2005 I have reached the 20 year milestone with the company, been promoted to Technical Advisor, and been selected as one of the company's Technical Fellows. One piece of advice, although not original, find a job you love and you'll never work another day in your life!
