I began learning my people's ways at an early age by attending with my mom "Mak hil t'aa" Arlene Roberts, traditional feast, ceremonies and gathers and preparing traditional foods and perfroming in my family's dance group.
I began studying Northwest coast art while in high school in Metlakatla, AK. Always striving to understand and appreciate my peoples rich art form. I then majored in history at the University of AK. In 1994 I apprenticed with my uncle Master Carver Randy Adams in Prince Rupert, BC.
Wanting to countinue my education in Aboriginal history, I movied to Seattle, WA. Where I joined the "Tsimshian Haayuuk Dancers and began a year long appreticeship with Tsimshian artisit/Carver Daivd Boxley.
