Michael's Story
Life
What can I say other than praise God for the life that I live. Unlike most kids that grow up in a particular school district and are one year from graduating High School I felt God calling me to move to Northern California with my Mom and twin sister Christy who left during my Junior year. While up in Northern California I moved to Livermore, CA and graduated from Granada High School. I took some time off after graduation and worked with the youth ministry at Cornerstone Fellowship in Livermore. I thought that the plans were set and I was going to be on staff and life was grand. God had different plans, he called me to serve in the Army. I spent 6 and a half years serving as an Airborne Infantryman at Ft. Bragg, NC, South Korea, and one tour in Afghanistan. The Army was a real growing time for me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. While in the Army I met my beautiful wife at the church I was attending at the time, Calvary Chapel Cary. We were married on February 2, 2001 at our church. Shortly after being married is when I came down on orders to go to Korea, which is a year long hardship tour. That was a real dark point in my life, but the Lord redeemed me, but upon returning to the states I was sent to a unit that was leaving for Afghanistan. After a year away from my new bride I was then sent for another 8 months to Afghanis...Expand for more
tan. Sounds horrible, but it was in the Lord's plan because I had really turned my back on God while in Korea, but in Afghanistan he paired me up with a fellow Christian that God used to restore my relationship with Him. Praise God for His Grace and Mercy. upon returning from Afghanistan I was then selected to become an instructor at a leadership school known as the Primary Leadership Development Course. It was a non-deployable unit, but the hours were horrible, I worked at a minimum a 14 hour day and it was a lot of days in a row. The blessing was that two weeks after being sent to be an instructor my old unit received orders to go to Iraq within a month, so I was spared another seperation. The other blessing about that was we had Just found out Jen was pregnant. We know have a 8 month old baby boy named Jacob Daniel Davis. I seperated from the Army in December of 2004 and currently work for an advertising agency in Raleigh, NC that specializes in Automotive dealerships. My passion is leading the Youth Ministry the church I attend now, Calvary CHapel Raleigh. We've almost at our three year anniversary as a church and it is steadly growing in to a good size fellowship of believers. We just started the youth ministry though back in February of 2005. So that is my life at the moment and I can't wait to see what more God has called me to.
