Michael's Story
After graduating from Carver High School in 1978, I attended Auburn University at Montgomery on a full academic scholarship where I served as a class officer and was President of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity for two years. It was at AUM that I met the love of my life, Susan Register. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting in March 1982. Susan and I were married shortly after her graduation from the AUM School of Nursing in 1984. Four long years later, we were finally blessed with our first daughter, Lindsay, now a student at Auburn University. Lindsay is planning to marry Joseph Bass (formerly of Montgomery and now residing in Seaside along the Florida coast) in June 2010. ny great friends at Life & Health Services (1982-1984), Durr-Fillauer Medical/Bergen Brunswig (1984-1995) and Alfa Insurance Companies (1995-today). Along the way, I returned to AUM and earned my Masters in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance and my CPA certificate. In my personal life, I have learned that God will always be there for me and, after dedicating my life to Him in 1984, I began my slow walk to learn from Him. I now spend much of my time in activities at Lakeview Baptist Church where I am Chairman of the Deacons and a Trustee. Believe it or not, I even spent some time teaching early elementary Sunday School as well as College and Career Bible Study...talk about two extremes. Well, in short, I am older, hopefully wiser, certainly larger and almost definitely more outgoing than I was 30 years ago. I've been blessed in so many ways I cannot count. I hope life has been as good to you as it has been to me.
