Michael's Story
Golf and the Golf Industry: I have been in the Golf Industry for over 40 years from my early working days at Windcrest and SACC where I put on grips, cleaned carts, gave a few free lessons on the Range while picking up the range balls and parking the Golf Carts. A typical summer day for over 6 summers involved starting work at 6 am onthe golf course maint. crew, mowing greens watering Etc. Then at 3 pm going to Proshop to clean clubs, set out clubs, pick up the range and then charge the electric carts. Somewhere after 8:30 and 9 pm I would lock up, take a shower in the locker room and go look for fun on Austin Hwy and Windcrest. What a blast I had, then I would do it again, many times 7 days per week. It paid for college and my golf game did improve. Some of the best of times!!!!
I graduated a Red Ass ag class of 78 and became Supt. at City of Austin Jimmy Clay G.C. and in 1985 I went back to SACC as Head of Golf Course and Grounds for ten years. I then took a job with Greenscape pump SVC as a Salesman/technician for South Texas. Sold sevice and installed pump equipment. Did some diving underwater to install pumps and water features. Then I went back to City of Austin PARD to live at Lions G C and work at Lions and Hancock for another 8 years. Went back then installed water features ans a construction Supt for Greenscape, built Whole foods and City Hall water feature as well as La Canterra water falls and pump equipment for the three water features. I then went to work for Watertronics as a Regional Sales Mgr. for 6 states including Texas. I retired but last year returned to Landa Park GC in New Braunfels as an Asst Supt. with the intent to manage the renovation project on site pending in the next few years, funding should be appropriated this year.. We hope. In the meantime, I was married for 14 years, 7 great and 7 terrible years # children all wonderful and myself single , looking to remarry real soon or if not be happy and content. I have been with a wonderful woman named Jeannette for close to 7 years now. Off and on but always happy..
Playing Little league baseball at Kirby liitle League with Richard Frazor , Mark Kaneziak as three great pitchers!!
At one time I had a -1 handicap, no kidding Boys. I could really putt back then.
