Michael's Story
Professionally, psychotherapy has been the focus of my life for the past thirty three years. I work with individuals and couples who have problems with their relationships or sexuality. I also provide community education workshops and seminars involving mental health issues. .
Since 2006, I also do a mental health TV segment for "Bridge Street". ( 9wsyr com) "It's All Relational" is a laocally produced show for Channel 9, the Syracuse NY affiliate of the ABC television network. To see or download podcasts of IAR, please go to: the Syracuse ABC affiliate, WYSR website, select "search video from the drop down menu and type in Michael Heath into the search box and press "enter". (Sorry for that long explanation. I can't believe Classmates won't allow web page addresses.)
About the "Reverend" thing. I was ordained in 1974 in the United Church of Christ after I graduatef from Yale Divinity School. My goal was to teach theology but life takes you in directions you never imagine. I went back to school to learn psychotherapy and pastoral counseling and this has been my profession since 1978. oogle . (If you Google me by typing Rev. Michael Heath, note bene: I am not the right wing guy from Maine.)
Since 1996 have written a monthly social commentary column for the Syracuse Post Standard which you can also find by Googleing me.
Relationally,
After a marriage that did not work out and some personal therapy, I found the love of my life. Monica, who is a labor relations lawyer, and I have been together since 1984 and enjoy living in Fayetteville, which is a suburb of Syracuse, watching TV, traveling and playing with our two dogs - Barney, a Westie and Miranda, a black lab.
For fun, we like week-ends in big cities like Chicago, Toronto, Wash. DC, NYC. and splurge once a year in Paris and Cancun.
Personally,
My hobbies are:
-- Jogging on a treadmill where I watch tivo's of the Cubs and Bears, Syracuse basketball and politics via MSNBC, -- Go Barack !
-- Photography, I'm all digital now and love super zooms,
-- Classic b/w films (I love TCM and have burned about a 5,000 dvd copies of my favorites.) Pre-code Hollywood is my favorite but I have become quite fond of 50's crime.)
-- Satellite TV especially AMC's Mad Men, HBO Boardwalk Empire, Showtime (like The Tudors).
