Michael's Story
Life
After CHS, I went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I graduated in 1996 and went to Yale Law School. During law school, I lived in Colombia, South America working with a human rights/economic development group that serves the Afro-Colombian community. After a brief period in North Carolina working for a federal district court judge, I accepted a Fulbright Grant to go work with an Afro-Ecuadorian economic development group in Ecuador. That experience, as well as my time in Colombia, was magnificent! I was the happiest I've ever been. orate attorney. On the one hand, it's a pretty good life. I get to travel to Latin America, which I love. On the other side, however, there are long hours and a hectic lifestyle. I don't get a chance to go to North Carolina nearly enough (maybe twice a year). And, the demands of my career make it difficult to meet someone and resolve the marriage issue. I can't say that my profession is what I want to do for the rest of my life, but it's a key stepping stone for my ultimate goal. My life since high school has been great overall. I've made lots of great friends, and I've traveled to every continent except Asia. I've grown spiritually and intellectually. My life now is great, too. I'm excited about the future, because I know it's going to be phenomenal.
