Michael's Story

Life Hello everyone. Well, to start off, it has been a long time since I saw anyone from SRHS. I have been through alot to say the least and have endured through some unique experiences. I have had some really good times and some really bad times, but all in all, I'd have to say that I have come a long way since that summer of 87 when we all graduated. I still remember that June morning of graduation, sharing time with friends and family. My 18th birthday had been just 3 days before and graduating was the best belated birthday present I could ever have received. I went to Salisbury State for a year, but then became disillusioned with college and so I came back home and went to Anne Arundel Community but withdrew after only a few weeks. I was working for my step-father's construction company and decided that the military could be no worse and so I joined the United States Air Force in late summer 1988. Right after my enlistment I got engaged to my first wife, Christina, who was from Wheaton. We were married upon my return from boot camp, in March 1989. I was stationed in Germany for 3 years. During that time I served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. My oldest daughter, Brittany was born there in 1990. In August, 1991, my great grandmother passed away. For those of you who had the priveledge to know her, she was the matriarch of my family and I was so glad that I had the opportunity to share 22 years of my life with her. Prior to her passing, we were able to have her picture taken with Brittany, showing 5 generations. After several other duty assignments in the USAF, which carried me from Nevada to the Middle East and Africa, I separated from the service and settled in Olney,MD. I was working for Concrete General, Inc out of Gaithersburg. Christina and I separated due to irreconcilable differences in 1994 and were divorced in 1996. During this time of separation, I relocated to North Carolina. In March of 1995, I was in a car ac...Expand for more
cident that broke my pelvis and took me a long time to recover. I returned to MD later in the year. In 1996, I married for a second time, to Tricia, whom I had met through a mutual friend at a party. She had grown up in Kansas and had relocated to the East coast with her family. In 1997, she gave birth to my second daughter, Madison. Our marriage was not to last, however as things went sour in our relationship soon after. It was also during this time that I went back into the military on a part time basis. I was living in Frederick, MD and was based with the Martinsburg, WV Air National Guard Unit.I still was involved in construction and engineering as a consultant in the private sector. I was put back on active duty in 1999 and was training down in Biloxi, Mississippi for almost a year. During my high school years, I never sang or played any musical instruments but I always had a passion for drums and music in general. It was during this time in Biloxi, when I wasn't training, that I started playing the drums quite frequently. I eventually ended up playing in a house band for a casino four nights a week and met plenty of professional artists in the industry to include 3 Doors Down,Survivor,Paul Rogers from Bad Company, just to name a few. In 2000 I returned to MD and played in several Baltimore and DC clubs.I worked in the general aviation industry during the day, specializing in customer service and communications. In 2001 after 9-11, I met Kim. We worked together for a communications company. She has 4 daughters. We moved to Charleston, SC in August of 2003. We are planning on getting married sometime in 06. Really haven't decided yet on a date. The 3rd time has got to be the charm!!! UPDATE: Kim and I married in April 06 in SC. I continue to work with FEMA in New Orleans in the aftermath of Huricanes Katrina and Rita. Never made it to Utah, but was diverted to a different assignment in Illinois for awhile. Hope to see you at the reunion.
