Michael's Story

Life Currently, I am proudly serving our country in the US Army National Guard. I was notified in April that my Unit was being activated, and we started our deployment training in June. It was a long summer away from my family but I was lucky enough to have the chance to go home Labor Day week to spend some much time with them before leaving for Iraq. I have been stationed in Iraq since September 2007. Last year I married the most beautiful woman in the world, the girl of my dreams and the love of my life. Renee and I have a wonderful life, and I am counting the moments until I am able to return home to her! She is my rock and my strength, I am truely Blessed to have her in my life! When not serving our country, my "normal job" is as a police detective in the town that we live. I enjoy riding my Harleys, traveling and spending family time with my beautiful wife and our children Thomas, Mike, Samantha and Bear. My son Thomas who is twenty years old is also serving here in Iraq and I am very proud of him. Mike is a senior in high school, and a star Lacrosse player. He's looking at college and also plans to enlist in the National Guard...Expand for more
early next year. Samantha who is a freshman, is a beautiful person inside and out, and a true joy to me! She is a varsity cheerleader at the high school and also cheers competatively!GO BUTTERFLY! Bear is in the eighth grade, he plays football and lacrosse. I miss his sense of humor and his quick wit! You should always live life to the fullest, it is way to short to live it any other way! I learned this lesson the hard way, but lucky for me I was able to find true happiness after years of being stuck in a miserable marriage to the biggest life-sucking leech alive. Most of you may remember that I HAD to marry Lisa Dennehy shortly after high school. (I should have listened to my Dad and got on that bus to Anytown, USA!) Most people would think that I sound bitter, but I am actually grateful! The lessons I learned because of the things that I had to endure made me realized that LIFE is truely what passes you by while your out there making a living. But like they say, "everything happens for a reason" and had I listened to my Dad way back when, I would have missed out on finding the true happiness that I have been blessed with today!
