Michael's Story
Life
Summary-left Notre Dame with wife in tow, got a career, bought a house and hedgehog, grew a baby girl, changed careers, then had another baby girl (girlpower!).
After high school, I studied as a chemical engineer at Notre Dame in Indiana before switching to chemistry/enviro. science. I was on the debate team (lots of exciting travel-in a car) and went to some fabulous football games (including ND-Fl.State for #1). I met my wife-to-be at the start of sophomore year, married after graduation (on campus), and moved to Seattle.
Then it was JOBS: worked at Fred Hutch as a Radiation Safety Tech through LabTemps, worked at the U.S. EPA regional lab analyzing mud and water for pollutants with ICF Kaiser, and then worked as an environmental consultant with Parametrix-which I LOVED-for 5 years, working mostly on data collection/analysis/reporting. My projects took me to the wilds of Indonesia as well as NV, TX, OH, and RI.
During this time, Renee and I lived in West Seattle (I commuted by ferry to Port Orchard...Expand for more
), then Renton, then Bellevue, then Mill Creek. After becoming disillusioned (due to work hours, advancement, etc) I changed careers for the tech industry. I jumped to AdRelevance (purchased by Jupiter Media Metrix) to work on a really cool product that sampled the Internet for online advertisments and then reported them to clients so they could see who was advertising where, and in what formats. That was when their stock was $10 a share, and I left a year and a half later with the stock at 15 cents. I actually worked for THIS site (classsmates.com for 2 years managing their advertising systems and operations, but now work for BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), where I am a technology consultant (my current engagement is with Microsoft).
I have a beautiful, supportive, fun-loving wife (Renee) and two beautiful little girls Evie born May'01 and Holly born Nov'03. We have enjoyed some great travel with our families, including cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Baltics and trips to Britain and Mexico.
