Michael's Story
Life
After Spending 8 years in the US Air
Force, I ended up moving to Maryland. I
have been living there since 1984. I am
a computer programmer - University of
Maryland. My job and the military adventure has allowed me to
travel worldwide for the past 24 years.
Since leaving High School, I have visited England, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Guam, Australia, Mexico, The Bahamas, and my favorite - Brasil.--
My latest exploits have involved
multiple visits to the Amazon River-Rain
Forest in Brasil. This past year I spent
three weeks 1...Expand for more
000 miles upstream visiting
native indian villages and viewing the
wildlife. It was near the village of Sao Gabriel Da Cachoiero on the upper branch of the Rio Negro. I actually stayed on an island in the middle of the river. I will be going again in the spring of 2001. I was always fascinated
by the Amazon River since I was young
and learned of it and felt a compelling need to go there.
In Maryland, I run 5K races from time to
time. I took 1st in the Masters division
in October 2000. I also was a member of
a triathalon team in 1999, which
competed against 60 other teams in
Australia. Our team took the Gold Medal.
It was extremely exciting.
