Michael's Story
Life
I moved to Danbury in 1954, just before turning 10. Grew up in the "Mad Hatter" Ski Slope area. Became a country boy-lots of exploring and fishing. I was admitted to the bar of the District of Columbia in 1969; in Vermont in 1975; and in Ohio in 1978. I attended UCONN, George Washington University Law and Georgetown Law Center(LL.M.). Moved to Vermont in 1974. Most recently, I was on the legal staff of Green Mountain Power Corporation, where I was General Counsel until accepting early retirement in 1999. I was a member of a Burlington law firm from 1985-Â90, and prior to those years had served the firm as of counsel, while I was engaged as a law professor at the University of Toledo College of Law, where I taught a number of civil law...Expand for more
topics between 1978 and 1985.I had served as Deputy Director of Vermont Legal Aid, Inc. from 1974-1978, after having left a position as a trial attorney at the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Consumer Protection. I formerly served as an attorney with NLSP of Washington, D.C., and in a clinical legal education program at Georgetown. I am co-author, with Robert S. Catz of MATERIALS ON THE PROCESS OF FEDERAL CIVIL LITIGATION, a law school book. I am lucky to live on the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain in South Burlington, VT with my wife, Marge, and two children: Nora(20), and Theo (16). I'm an avid fisherman and golfer, and love to travel. Next possible trip is around Cape Horn in a 55' trawler some friends run out in Washington State.
