My first job was at Lafayette Radio Electronics as a mail clerk, where I got paid $1.80 an hour to sort and deliver mail and inter-departmental messages. What I remember most about it is the perspective I had of a major corporation and the interaction I had with all the departmental employees from top to bottom. During my early years I aspired to sail the seven seas and see the world as an adventurous mariner. My family and friends thought that was a ghastly idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. In my U.S. Navy assignments I started using computers in the early 1970's when they were huge machines filling entire rooms. The Navy constantly supplied us with the newest leading-edge technology including the best equipment and training. With the integration of computers in every aspect of Naval life made the Navy truly an adventure. My Naval career resulted my good fortune of living in many places around the globe.
