Michael's Story
Life
Well, when I left high school, I moved to Greenville, NC and started Pitt Community College, and after 2 years, graduated with my Associates Degree in Architectural Technology. I then started ECU in the Construction Management program fall of 97. I met my now wife, Shannon, the summer before I started ECU. I graduated in '99 and went full time with a local Civil Engineering firm, Rivers and Associates, Inc., as a Civil Drafter, and now Designer. After off and on dating with Shannon over a 5 year period, I finally decided to marry her in 2003! She just finished Cosmotology school the end of 2004, and is working at a local shop, trying to build up her clientel, and career! I also work on the side at a local performance shop building performance engines (Honda's and Nissans mainly), and modifying Import Cars..That is my hobby, and I guess I get payed to do it! Last year I decided I would love to move back to Edenton if the opportunity arose...My wife and I love it there, and I miss the piece and quiet, and the water! We will probably make that decision in the next year or so..Its either stay in Greenville and built a home, or move..we will see!
School

, especially college was a wild ride. I met so many people, did so many things I wish I had the opportunity to do again! I miss it! Things were slow at first, as most of you know, I was very shy in high school, and probably not the most popular...but, oh well, I am very pleased with the way things went after the first year of college. I lived in a townhome (which I am finally selling now), and did not get exposure to the typical dorm life. My first roommate, who I consider an older brother, really helped me develop a social life. After that, it was all uphill...
Workplace
Well, I moved from Edenton, Started PCC, and got a job working for Greenville Utilities Commision doing drafting. After about 6 months, I was offered a job with The East Group, an Architechtural/ Engineering firm, doing drafting part time. I worked there for about 1 year, and the firm had to lay off a lot of workers..and as you guessed it, part timers went first. So, I searched for a job, and found my current job, Rivers and Associates, Inc., a well established Civil Engineering firm. I worked here throughout my remaining years of college, and went full time Jan. of 2000. I have worked there ever since!
