Michael's Story
Life
Left Nepean to go to University of Waterloo for 2 years. Moved to Victoria, British Columbia and graduated from U.Vic with an economics and geography degree (B.Sc.).
Spent next 5 years in Victoria, working in northern BC as a treeplanter and in other general forestry work. Ended up foremanning a crew of 200. Spent the winters travelling and working on various conferences, including travel to Central America, Oxford UK, the USA.
Went to Purdue University, in Indiana in 1995 for an MBA. Recruited out of Krannert to work for Carrier, the AC company owned by United Technologies (Otis, Pratt and Whitney, Sikorsky). ear as Carrier's finance manager on acquisitions. Worked in Syracuse and Charlotte building their large chiller plant.
After 2 years in Charlotte, moved to Houston with my then girlfriend Lynn. Moved from Houston to Los Angeles with now wife Lynn to run Carrier's air conditioning business in Southern California. After 2 years in that role, and 7 years with Carrier, I changed companies to a large mechanical contractor in Orange County. After getting tired of a 2 hour commute, I took a job with York International in Boston Mass, where I am responsible for their business in New England (Mass, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island).
Planning to stay here for a bit, but Boston is not the last place we will end up.
Have 2 cats, a wife and a reasonable while stressful life.
