Michael's Story
Life
Graduated Portsmouth Catholic HS in 1977. Worked at Newport News Shipbuilding from Oct 77 - Aug 80, then became a Deputy Sheriff in Portsmouth. In 1984, I joined the Air Force as a Security Police patrolman. I've been stationed in Columbus Mississippi, Ankara Turkey and San Antonio Texas. During this time I also became the Chief of the Northwest Volunteer Fire Dept, outside San Antonio. Served in Desert Shield/Storm from Aug 1990 - March 1991. I left active duty in 1998, moved back to Portsmouth, and joined the reserves at Langley AFB in Hampton VA, where I became a TSgt. I went to work for Canon as a senior peripherals tech, until Jan 2000, when I became a 911 dispatcher for the Fairfax County VA Police Dept. 01 I reported back to Langley due to 9/11, and was officially recalled to active duty on 1 Oct 2001. I left active duty on 1 Apr 2003, and went to work for First Data Corporation Corporate Security as a Security Manager and Fraud Investigator in Chesapeake, VA. I remarried on 31 Oct 2003, and have a second son born on 1 July 2004. I retired from the USAF Reserves on 18 Feb 2005. I now have three grandsons and two granddaughters. In Dec 2014, I became the Allied Barton Security Account Manager for the Bon Secours Healthcare Systems facilities in Hampton Roads, based at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth. In Aug 2015, Allied Barton became Allied Universal, I remained there until October 2019, when I became the Safety and Security Manager for Westminster Canterbury in Virginia Beach. I retired from there in March, 2020.
