Michael's Story
After MHS, I went to the U of I for 3 years, enlisted in the USAF for 7.5 years as a Metrologist (moving to RAF Lakenheath, England in 1972), and then worked there for the Dept of the AF as a Government Civilian until I "retired" in 2004. I continued that for 12 more years as a government contractor, finally retiring for good in 2016. I had 2 children with my British wife, and they both grew up in England! My daughter is still in London with her family (through whom I have 2 grandchildren), and my son is married and working in Dallas TX.
I remarried to Cheryl (Luehrs) in 2014, and brought her to England, just north of Cambridge! I had lived in the UK for 45 y...Expand for more
ears until Cheryl and I decided to move to Lebanon, Oregon in 2018 - neither of us had been to the PNW before! I saw much of Europe while I lived in the UK, and I have a load of British friends who hated to see us leave. I went to over 30 rock concerts while I was there, went to London a lot, and I loved the history there! Scotland and Wales are beautiful, as is Ireland!
Oregon is our home now, and we love it here in the Willamette Valley - 70 miles from the Pacific Ocean! The mountains here are incredible, there are trees everywhere, the weather is mild, and there is no sales tax!
I often think of the wonderful times I had at MHS, I miss you all! Take care :)
