Michael's Story
What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion?
That I have such a wide age range of children. An 20 year old son, 12 year old daughter and a 4 year old daughter.
Which teacher would you love to see again?
Billy Don Maples
What's the wildest thing you ever did in school?
Too many to mention.
What happened to your first crush?
I don't really know. I hope she is happy and well. I do remember her name is Rene and she gave me my first kiss in 1st Grade.
How do you hope old friends remember you?
As friendly.
To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom?
Where I am at, spending time with my family, with my wife. I am blessed to be truly happy where God has put me and to relish in those gifts he has so abundantly given to me.
Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise?
Moving back to the country! My Dad always said I would, but I never beleived him.
You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
Never get off of the path that leads to God!
What's the weirdest job you ever had?
Disc Jockey
Where have you lived? Why did you move?
Bossier, Dallas, East Texas. These are the places that God led me.
As I have got older, my attitude toward those things that we measure our lives by...Expand for more
have changed. Don't get me wrong, I like the better things of life just like the next guy. The BMW series 500 is a great car! But....is it practical for my family and I? No, the Dodge Grand Caravan is practical, the Hyundai Elantra is practical. Driving 167 miles one way to work from the Childs Ranch, I need the best gas mileage I can get! I would love to go out and purchase a BMer for my wife, but we would find that it just does not fit our needs. I was a slave to money for most of my life because I got caught up in keeping up with the Jone's. Again, we do not live like we are in a third world country, but we do enjoy the freedom of being content with those things that God has blessed us with. We recognize that the biggest blessings we have is not our house and cars and all of the stuff, but our Salvation through Jesus Christ, our personal relationship with Him, my beautiful marriage, the health of our children, the love that they have for God and the sweetness of their hearts towards others. My wife and I started a quest a couple of years back.....try and enjoy the life we have been given, instead of constantly being beat down by it! To be content with what the Lord provides is truly calming and peaceful.
God Bless all who may read this.
