Michael's Story
Life
From an overall perspective life has been just great. Some of you had a nick name for me, and called me 'Mr. Billions',,, for those of you that know what I'm talking about, that never happened, the whole ordeal got nixed in the British court system and family members talked me out of pursuing the situation any further. In the mid 70's I was married for 6 months. After my divorce, my brother married my first wife. I tried to warn him, but he didn't listen! He stuck it out 8 years with her (poor guy) and filed divorce. Successive husbands committed suicide. (I was lucky to get out of that one alive!) Still feeling lucky, in 1984 I hopped an Airplane with suit case in hand. The plane was heading to Las Vegas, Nevada. (Imagine that!) 1 month later, a girl I went out with once back in Arlington Heights, also hopped a plane to Las Vegas. Well, you guessed it,,,, I got stupid again (I guess Mr. Winky took over) and I got married again. This time I made an honest attempt to settle down and we had 4 beautiful children. As time went on, by the late 90's things were getting rough, and in 2000 I filed for divorce. Well as it turns out, after my divorce, just like the song says I've had the time of my life. Things all of a sudden changed. Up in till now, I always worked in the field of technology of some sorts or another. Now I found my self smack dab in the middle of The Entertainment Industry and to my surprise found I could actually sing. The rest is pretty much history. In 2004 I found myself in the finals of The Las Vegas Entertainer of The Year contest. (I got tricked into entering that one) By the time 2005 rolled around, I must have dated over half the available women in Las Vegas or so it seems. I was being accused of being a gigolo by other women because they saw me with a different woman every night. Finally I went out with this woman I met online (yes on the internet!) and I really liked this person, and she really liked me. We like each other so much, that we went out again and again, and finally Patricia moved into home. On July 22nd, 2006 Patty and I were married in the backyard of my Las Vegas home. Now it's our Las Vegas home, and yes it's a nice big home with a nice big in ground swimming pool in the back yard. If any of you are ever in town, look us up!
UPDATE: May 2010 - Patty and I both decided to divorce. As you all know this is Las Vegas. We filed out Divorce papers on May 12th,2010. Our divorce papers were signed by the judge on May 13th,2010 and final recording by the County Clerk on May 16th,2010. Can you say QUICK?
School
What can I say? You were all there. I certainly was not the most academically motivated person from the class of 1970. At that point in life school just seemed to be a misuse of time. ...Expand for more
The things we were being taught were not the things we needed to survive in the real world. In retrospect over the years I have found myself wishing I could have gone back and completed high school over. If so, I believe my focus would have been more intense on certain subjects. Unfortunately hind sight is 20/20 and a perfect science. Being one of the founding members of the Mundelein High School Amateur Radio Club had a great impact on my future. This involvement would lead me into a vocation dealing with communications and computer technology.
College
Since high school graduation, I have been self taught in all aspects of life, science and technology and have excelled highly in those areas.
Workplace
During high school I worked for Eagle Foods in Mundelein. The place where many of you shopped for groceries back in those days. After high school my family temporarily moved to East Moline where I stayed in the retail foods business for a year or so. In 1972 I moved back to the southern suburbs and lived in Park Forest. During this time I was involved with a company contacted to banks. I drove a daily route handling clearings between suburban banks and the larger banks in down town Chicago including the Federal Reserve. In 1976 I went to work for Erickson Communications in Chicago, eventually running the company. In 1984 I made the move to Las Vegas and ran a telemarketing firm in the investment field. By 1987 I was getting bored and found myself going to work for a new start up business. The company was called JCH Wire and Cable. JCH is an electrical wholesaler which customers all over the western united states. Over a period of time with the company I wore many hats. I've held the title of Sale Representative, Product Manager, Systems Manager, Marketing Manager, and IT Manager. In 1997 I left the organization to open up my own computer (IT) business. From 1997 through 2005 I was self employed in the computer and entertainment industry, also dabbling in the video shooting and production. During this time I was also doing special projects for JCH Wire & Cable from home. Later 2005 I was Asked to rejoin JCH Wire & Cable as Vice President of Operations and later took over the position of General Manager of the business. In early 2014 I was forcibly retired from the business after the death of our CEO James Hinshaw who's remaining family decided to close the business and liquefy the companies assets. As most of you may have guessed by this time, I am enjoying retirement living the life here in Las Vegas. I spend a fair amount of time on the radio making friends all over the world as I am a Federally Licensed Amateur Radio Operator (Ham Radio). Somewhere in my pictures you cam see my radio station.
