Michael's Story
I live in Ottawa Kansas, where I was raised off and on for a better part of my life. After graduation I spent twelve years in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of GySgt E-7. My military service took me to bases in Hawaii, Philipines, Okinawa, Korea, California and South Carolina. After my release from active duty I lived in San Antonio Tx. for a year where I was a assistant manager for a Churches Fried Chicken Restaurant. I returned to Ottawa in 1987 and worked for at a number of businesses in and around the Ottawa area in the food service industry. ith the last one closing in October 2002. After that I worked for the Swift Tranportation Company as a over the road truck driver for nine months, November 2002-August 2003. After that I took a position as the house chef of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of Kansas. I have just completed my sixth year in that position and will begin my seventh year in August when classes resume. I have also been a chef at the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, University of Kansas and the lead cook at Harrahs Casino, Kansas City, Missouri.My education includes Ottawa Senior High School graduate, Los Angeles Communty College,and Johnson and Wales School of Culinary Arts. My dream is to own and operate another Mexican Restaurant here in Ottawa in the near future.
