Michael "Yogi"'s Story
Life
Hey y'all. After High School, I worked for The Department of Correction, Division for Youth in Albany. Two staff with 8 inmates got real old quick. After taking an escaped female inmate into custody in downtown Albany, by myself, and seeing just how miserably viscious and dangerous juvenile delinquents can be (the community isn't very supportive either), I decided to pursue a safer line of work. I Left Colonie in the 1980s for Columbia, SC. Worked as Pharmacy Technician for a while while attending Univ. of SC. Lived on Grand Island, near Buffalo for a while in the early 1990s. Moved back to Schenectady to work for the NYS Thruway Authority at the Albany HDQTRs in the Design Division, of the Engineering Department. uated summa cum laude in 1996. Worked in Burn/Trauma ICU for 5 years in Washington, DC. After caring for the 9/11 Pentagon burn victims, I began working in Trauma, Medical, and surgical ICUs in various DC and Northern VA Hospitals and Level 1 Regional Trauma Centers, i.e., INOVA Fairfax, and MedStar (Washington Hospital Center). Decided that ICU is alot of work, and that I had a great experience- and knowledge-base. So, I met and married a truly wonderful nursing colleague named Sandi and moved to Durham, NC. I now work in critical care and for Perioperative services at Duke University Hospital. Life is truly GREAT, and has been an adventure. Perhaps, now, I'll settle down and call North Carolina my home. We'll see what new adventures there are in years to come. Peace-out......mike(Yogi)
